Netflix gives us the first look at Tomb Raider: Legend of Lara Croft, an upcoming anime on Netflix. The official first look was released at the DROP 01 event.
Tomb Raider has been a long running franchise in the gaming and cinematic community. Tomb Raider gained a massive fan base from the Play Station 1 video game which was released in 1996. Lara Croft was then introduced to the big screen starring Angelina Jolie in 2001.
The Netflix anime which will be released in 2024, will take place after the 2013-2018 Tomb Raider trilogy, which concluded with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Lara Croft will be voiced by Agent Carter star Hayley Atwell. Powerhouse Animation, who also worked on Castlevania will be working on the series.
Viewers may likely feel like they have to play the game to understand the story or to get into the anime itself, but Tomb raider will likely be able to pull it off and viewers will catch on just fine, at least that’s what we’re hoping for.
The British female archaeologist in search of treasure has come a long way and we’re hoping the anime gets us hooked in addition to waiting for the next Tomb Raider game to drop. A new Tomb Raider game is rumored to drop in 2024, we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
DROP 01 also announced other upcoming series on Netflix. Devil May Cry and Scott Pilgrim to name a few.
